Raw Material is about the individualized notions of traditional Korean dance in the light of personal identity. It is a series of works that I have been developing over the last year and a half. It attempts to appropriate the Korean traditional dance form as a resource for exploring new ways of using the body as a generative source of ideas.

It examines how the body is being re-conceptualized when there is an attempt to open to new possibilities from the given traditional form. It also explores how the body is engaged in a constantly changing process of rearrangement, reconstruction, and deconstruction, most of which is done in silhouettes that represent the given form. This allows me to reflect on my own presence. The body is being re-formulated by an everchanging environment but it has yet to produce a fixed identity. Every single movement that follows, proposes a transformation that is created in a repetitive pattern of composition.
